Latin Composition

I have found that English to Latin exercise are essential for teaching Latin students grammar and familiarizing them with the dozens of forms Latin provides.

1a. Hillard and Botting's Elementary Latin Exercises - Text
1b. Hillard and Botting's Elementary Latin Exercises - Vocabulary
This introduction to Latin composition takes students from the 1st conjugation all the way to simple uses of the subjunctive. Indirect Statement, Gerunds, and Gerundives are not covered. The vocabulary is limited and thus allows students to concentrate on learning the grammar and the forms. Warning! This document is still a work in progress.
2a. North and Hillard's Latin Prose Composition - Preliminary Exercises - Text
2b. North and Hillard's Latin Prose Composition - Vocabulary
These exercises presume knowledge of all the grammar covered in Elementary Latin Exercises. Within are exercises for all common advanced grammatical constructions. The vocabulary here is extensive enough that only the best high school students will not be slowed by it. Warning! This document is still a work in progress.
