Vocabulary

This document below contains vocabulary lists taken from the Core Vocabulary posted at Dickinson College Commentaries. I have arranged the 700 most frequent words from that vocabulary into 28 lists of 25 words each.

I use these lists for my Latin 4 students. My method is to give "rolling" vocabulary tests each Friday. For Honors Latin 4, Test 1 is on Lists 1 and 2 (fifty total words are game), Test 2 is on Lists 1, 2, and 3 (75 total words are game), Test 3 is on Lists 1, 2, 3,  and 4 (100 total words are game), Test 4 is on Lists 2, 3, 4, and 5 (100 total words are game), Test 5 is lists 3, 4, 5, and 6 (100 total words are game), etc., all the way up to Test 27 on Lists 25, 25, 27, and 28. I only test three lists at a time for regular Latin 4. Each test is made up of fifteen words taken at random from the designated lists.
